Before deploying the Dev Kit into the ocean, a key step is to properly prepare it for the water. This includes adding lubricated seals and sealing the waterproof enclosure. We recommend performing this process right before you’re ready to submerge, to reduce the opening and closing of the unit.

Prepping for wet testing

  1. Label or take a photo of your wiring.

  1. Unplug the wires from the board.

  2. Lubricate the O-rings by adding the supplied lubricant to the supplied O-Ring bag, and move it around to apply evenly.

  3. Add two O-rings to the top cap as shown below:

    1. Slide one O-ring over the dev board.

    b. Expand to fit the O-ring inside the O-ring groove located on the top cap.

    c. Repeat for the second O-ring.

    <aside> ⚠️ When installing O-rings, be careful to not nick them or accumulate dust and debris, as this impacts the integrity of the watertight seal.

  4. Add the remaining two O-rings to the bottom cap using the same technique described in the previous steps.

  1. Press the the bottom cover into the acrylic tube to create the waterproof seal. Check the locking cord notch to ensure the cover is fully seated into the acrylic tube

  1. Reinsert the locking cord.
  2. Rewire the Dev Board, using your photo or notes to guide you.

  1. Add the desiccant packet to the inside of the tube.
  2. Seal the top cap.
  3. Reinsert the other locking cord.
